According to dictionary, a tornado is a vortex with strong winds, consisting in rain and dust, which twists in the spiral, usually in late spring and early summer.In a shorter definition, tornado may be considered as a very powerful vortex which rotates with high speed, around a center of low pressure.It is a small violent atmospheric disturbance, with turbionar, which occurs on the continental surfaces, between 20 and 60 degrees latitude north and south.

The strongest tornades are "hosted" the temperate zones of the United

States, Western Europe, Japan, India, South Africa, Argentina and

Australia. The most powerful and violent place in early spring in the

United States, and of these,the strongest focus in the area called

"Tornado Alley", which includes large portions of the Texas, Oklahoma,

Kansas and Iowa.


The most destructive tornades were :


- 27 May 1896 St. Louis over 400 dead and 2,500 wounded;

- 2-6 April 1936 Mississippi, Georgia, Southern California, Arkansas 19 dead and 1800 wounded;

- 21-22 March 1952 Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Tenessee: 343 dead and 1400 wounded;


- 11 April 1965 Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin 271 dead and 5,000 wounded;


- May 1987 Texas town of Saragosa destruction;


- 28 May 1995 San Angelo damage worth 120 mil dollars.

 

Fujita Scale (F - Scale) is classified as follows :
    
F0 - wind speed between 64-116 km / hDon`t cause signifiant damage,but even these may elicit tiles of on the roof and throw cars of on roads.These  may topple mobile homes and can shatter warehouses. Can tear branches from trees and indicators on the road ;


F1 - wind speed between 117 - 181 km/h
It is a moderate tornado that causes average damages. It`s equivalent to a weak hurricane . the roofs will fall on of the houses and mobile homes from the affected area will be destroyed . This type of vortex can take trains off rails ;


F2 - wind speed between 182 - 253 km/h
This is a strong tornado . Trees will be uprooted . also buildings will be destroyed;

F3 - wind speed between 254-332 km / h
This tornado will make more damages . roofs and walls of houses well built will be pulled down . vehicles of 400 tonnes will fly through the air like toys, all the forests from the affected area will be down;

F4 - wind speeds between 333-419 km / h
A tornado of such intensity, is destroying everything in its pathway .

   
F5 - wind speed between 420-512 km / h
It`s an incredible tornado, everything meets in the pathway is carried on considerable distances.

How you can be safe when a tornado comes?

Well, all you have to do is to go to your basement . Sometimes it`s enough if you`ll be in a room that haves in the walls heet steel . these films should be mounted on the walls of a corridor without windows inside the house, which is surrounded and protected by walls of other rooms. Those at home must be covered with mattresses and pillows to keep from falling objects and the glass broken.
