Nadia Elena Comaneci (born November 12, 1961) is a Romanian gymnast, winner of five Olympic gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics, and the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event.
Comaneci was born in Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti), Romania, as the daughter of Gheorghe and Stefania-Alexandrina. Her pregnant mother was watching a Russian film in which the heroine's name was Nadya, the diminutive version of the Russian name Nadyezhda (which means, literally, "Hope"). She decided that her daughter would be named Nadia, too. Comaneci also has a younger brother named Adrian.
Nadia had a moment at 17 years, when she wanted to retire permanently, but she couldn`t stay away from the gym ore than two months.
Because she started gymnastics as a small at 6 years old, it can be said that she grown with the sport. The benefits offered by the sport to any sport probationer are immense. Sport is really an incentive of mind.
"Sport will help you mentally, it is a stimulant of the mind.By sport you can`t only faster or stronger, but you can think faster too." Nadia Comaneci
Even though Nadia knew that exercise was successful, she expected less, she didn`t think that it was a perfect exercise in the competition from Montreal. In 1976 in Montreal, being on the beginning of her life, hoped to obtain at least a medal.
Nadia was training 6-7 hours daily, except Thursday and Sunday, when she practiced 3-4 hours. Current code points do not require to participate in all 4 apparatus in feminine gymnastics. Now it is possible to focus on 1-2 devices, which requires 1-2 hours per day of training.
